How to Prepare your Home for your Upcoming Floor Work

Regardless of whether you're getting new floors or getting your floors refinished, being prepared before any floor work is essential to ensure an easy and smooth process. Here are some steps that you can follow to prepare your floors for upcoming floor work:

Furniture & Rugs

It is imperative that the team has a clear and safe workspace to operate in. To help with this, it is important to remove all valuable and breakable items in the rooms or areas that the team will be entering. Including photos and mirrors hung on the wall, light fixtures, and any home decor.

Additionally, if there is any furniture or appliances that you would like the team to remove, please let them know in advance. If you do not want them to remove any furniture or appliances, please ensure the room or area is cleared of all items.

Temperature & Humidity

Control the temperature and humidity of your home is vital in the process. Hardwood floors are similar to a sponge where they expand and contract based on the environment they're exposed to. If their new home is too hot or too cold then the floors can either buckle or create gaps in between. Setting the temperature between 60-80 degrees and a humidity range of 35%-55% will help create a comfortable environment for new and existing floors.

Pets

Make sure to secure your pets in a separate room or have someone pet sit during the time the team is working in your home. The sounds can be frightening to your furry loved ones and we want to make sure they feel safe when we're around. This can also assist the team in finishing the job quickly.
